StarshipStarring Mickey Thomas. In early 1979 Mickey Thomas was asked to join Jefferson Starship after the departure of Marty Balin and Grace Slick. In 1981, Mickey Thomas recorded a second solo album, Alive Alone. Mickey Thomas spent most of the early eighties as the main vocalist of Jefferson Starship, performing several duets with Slick (who rejoined in 1981) and gaining greater influence in the band. After Paul Kantner left in 1984, Thomas was sole leader of the band. From 1985 to 1989 the newly dubbed "Starship" scored some of its biggest hits. Grace Slick left again in 1988, and Starship on 8/26/1989 had another hit, "It's Not Enough," that went to number 12 on the "Hot 100" for 9 weeks on RCA records (RCA 9302). Soon their fortunes as pop music artists soon ran out, and Mickey turned to other entertaining options. Mickey has, also, appeared in the 1989 film "Dream a Little Dream," as well as, having recorded the film's titled theme song and its duet version with Mel Tormé for the soundtrack. The duet version was also played during the end of the film. In 1990, Mickey changed the name to "Starship featuring Mickey Thomas;" touring has continued with this title. In 1998 he guested on Sammy Hagar's album, Marching To Mars. Some of their best known songs are: "We Built This City", "Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now", "Sara", "It's Not Over Til It's Over", "Jane", "Layin It On The Line", "Find Your Way Back", "No Way Out", "Winds of Change", "Stranger", "It's Not Enough" and "Fooled Around and Fell in Love". |

The AssociationIt all started in 1965 with the breakup of one of the first folk rock ensembles called, “The Men”. What was originally an 11 member singing group, ultimately became the 6 man band named, “The Association!” In 1967, The Association made history being the first band anywhere to open a rock festival - the now historic, Monterey Pop Festival. One of the most successful bands to come out of the 60's, they have sold over 80 million records, tapes, Cds and DVDs. They've earned a number of achievement awards as well as 6 gold records and 2 platinum records. Their album, THE ASSOCIATION GREATEST HITS (Warner Brothers), continues to be one of the longest best-selling albums in the history of the company. Some of their best known songs are: "Along Comes Mary", "Enter the Young", "Never My Love", "Sometime", "Wasn't It a Bit Like Now" and "Windy". |

Returning for their 2nd year! This newly-formed classic rock/variety band is comprised of some of the area’s most established musicians. Fast becoming one of Wisconsin's premier large event acts, Mama's Little Hippies have already shared the stage with such greats as America, Three Dog Night and The Charlie Daniels Band and Rusty Young from Poco. They have been likened to the resurrection of Jefferson Airplane by local promoters and are proving that they may be one of the best bands to come out of Wisconsin's Northwoods in decades. Bret & Frisk Miller (www.bretandfrisk.com) have combined with Charlie and Denise Sauter, Mark Zanoni, and Peter Stoltman to add a new dimension to the Northwoods music scene. This is good time party music at its finest! The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, America, The Grateful Dead, CSN&Y, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Eagles, and Paul Simon are just a few of the bands that Mama’s Little Hippies will be covering. Come out and enjoy a blast from the past, and don’t forget your headbands and tie-dyes. Don’t worry...be Hippy. |
